A group of young people, aged between 16 and 25, involved in the crime of Samuel Luiz, had participated in the creation of a homemade music video of a violent and homophobic nature three months before the tragic event. The song, filled with offensive and violent expressions, was found on the phone of one of the accused, Kaio Amaral.
During the trial, evidence was presented that contradicts the defensive version of Kaio, who tried to shift the responsibility for the crime onto others involved. An investigator pointed out that all the accused were present at the time of the assault on Samuel, with varying levels of participation.
One of the accused, Diego Montaña, who claimed to be extremely drunk during the attack, had his argument discredited when images were shown in which he could be seen acting agilely moments before the assault.
In addition to the aggressive content of the song, the aesthetic of the music video stands out, in which the young people appear hooded and wielding bladed weapons. Messages exchanged between the accused on social media reveal attempts to clean Kaio's image after accusations emerged against him as the perpetrator of the fatal attack.
These facts were revealed during the judicial process at the Provincial Court of La Coruña, where the five accused face sentences of between 22 and 27 years for the crime of Samuel Luiz. The evidence collected by the police includes messages and posts that demonstrate the relationship between the accused and their violent attitude, which is reinforced by witness testimonies and new evidence presented at the trial.
